My trip to Oranjestad, Aruba
White sandy beaches, clear blue ocean water, charming flamingos and surrounded with good friends, while having a blast!
This pretty much sums up my trip to Oranjestad, Aruba this past Summer. If you were to give me one word to describe it, I would definitely say: “FUN!”
My days in Aruba were full of excitement with all the outdoor activities, plus nightly V.I.P. access to all the fun, exclusive parties on the island! (Huge thanks to my great friend, Omar Rosario, for that).
My boyfriend, Enrique, & I flew in to Aruba on a Friday and we had till Tuesday morning to enjoy our vacation before heading back to Miami, FL. I remember feeling so excited in the plane although I had no idea what to expect. I had heard so many great things about beautiful Aruba that I couldn't wait to physically be there already chilling with the flamingos!
We specifically decided to go to Aruba because many of our dear friends were already going to enjoy all the fun from the Electric Festival that is held every year in Aruba. They were all staying at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino, so we decided to stay there as well. They warned us about all the fun thats had in this sunny Caribbean island, they told us how amazing & relaxing it is there and how good it makes you feel. Words cannot describe Aruba, it’s just my type of paradise! Gorgeous beaches all around, it barely rains there, (which happens to be true, but it rained on our third night there, lol), great mojitos on the resort and very nice people everywhere!
This warm island is only 19.6 miles long and 6 miles across; A total area of 70 square miles. In other words, not that big. Which is great because you can explore the whole island in just a few days! I didn’t because of all the fun partying and relaxing times we had, so I'll have to go back another time to finish exploring everything else! I’m actually pretty happy about that though because I loved the island so much, I wouldn’t mind going back at all! I would also 100% stay at the same hotel, Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino. Many say it’s the best one in the whole island and I have to agree with them!!!!!
Staying at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino allowed us to experience the unparalleled privacy & relaxation at this hotel’s private island with it’s beautiful beaches full of flamingos, plus unlimited food and beverages (including alcoholic drinks) with their all-inclusive package, which was truly great! The niceness and quality of the food & restaurants impressed both, Enrique and I, very much. There was plenty of variety of delicious foods everywhere! The all-inclusive pass was good for several restaurants inside the hotel, plus the two restaurants on it’s private Flamingo Beach island, including exceptional, friendly service & all basic drinks, like beers and piña coladas, at every Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino’s bar!
Since we had this amazing package and we went there on a budget, we opted for breakfasts, lunches and dinners inside the hotel during our whole stay. Except, one night that we met up with our friends for dinner at a very fancy and yummy restaurant, but it’s owner was so rude and obnoxious that it’s not even worth mentioning! Another reason to go back soon and explore more of this sexy, lively and enjoyable Caribbean island!
Our hotel’s room was ideal for lounging and getting some rest before heading to the next big event in Aruba! It had a simple, yet elegant feel to it with an ample French balcony, (ours had a view of the pool & of where the water taxis dock to pick up ONLY hotel guests and take them to the hotel’s private beach). We had a comfortable king bed and the room included a mini fridge, a TV, wifi, coffeemaker, and a rain shower that made me feel so luxurious!
Now, let’s talk about Aruba’s white sandy beaches and crystal clear ocean water! There’s many beaches on the island, of course. But Renaissance’s beaches are THE best & absolutely most beautiful beaches there. Why, if you ask me? Well, simply because you get to layout on the beach and have your own photo session with the hotel’s private island’s flamingos! They are as friendly as the hotel’s staff and as cute as anything you’ve ever seen in your life. I wouldn't change having the over the top views of the flamingo’s silhouette walking on the beach during sunset, which happens around 6:30pm during the month of September in Aruba, over any other hotel/beach there!
Flamingo Beach is just an 8 minute water taxi ride away from where we were staying at. Once you arrive you have the option of checking out the family friendly beach, where you can rent equipments for all the offered outdoor activities for the guests enjoyment. Or you can layout on the opposite side of the family friendly beach, a beach meant for adults only. That’s were we all hung out for most of our stay. Both sides were very enjoyable, although the flamingos were only in the adults section, not the family’s side!
The only negative situation we encountered during our stay in Aruba was at the hotel’s spa. I will never pay for any service there again. Ever. From our arrival till’ our departure, the whole experience was terrible. I had made our spa appointment over a month in advance hence I wanted to make sure they had enough occupancy for us to get a couples massage while vacationing in the resort. I don't like to focus too much on negativity, so I’m not going to sit here and explain everything that happened. But I can honestly say that the service was poor, the staff disrespectful, the massages felt like someone was just sliding their relaxed hands through our bodies. The locker rooms, both men & women, were falling apart. The spa’s saunas were not working, the shampoos and conditioners in the showers hadn’t been refilled… And to make this long story short, we complained and received many disrespectful laughters & bad faces from the spa’s manager/whole staff, plus a hustled 50% discount off our bill.
Let’s move on to all the fun, unforgettable nights we had during our stay in Aruba! Those nights were you create endless great memories with real friends, knowing you’ll never forget this particular trip!
As I mentioned above, we originally decided to go on this trip because our friends were already going to Oranjestad, Aruba for Electric Festival that weekend. We went to support our very good friend & well-known Dj, ALX, and his & Omar Rosario’s record label, Descend Records, who also had it’s own exclusive party. Thank you both for a wonderful time, Enrique & I had a blast every single night!
Not everything that happened in Aruba, stayed in Aruba! So If you’d like to visually enjoy & learn more about my vacation in Oranjestad, Aruba and all the parties we went to, then you must watch the YouTube video below, where I showcase all about my Vacation Adventures in Aruba for Electric Festival!
Overall, Aruba is a great island to go for relaxation and exploration. I would describe my trip to this gorgeous place as a fun & eventful one, full of adventures and sunny beach days. If you don't like the party scene, then I would suggest not to go during Electric Festival. The vibes were definitely a bit different than if you go during another date. So it’s really up to you and depends on what you’re looking for!
Our whole group enjoyed this vacation very much and we can't wait to go back and do it all over again, hopefully soon!
